Virden – Ruth I. Seifert- Hedrick, 103 of Virden, IL passed away Thursday February 28, 2013 at Sunrise Manor, Virden, IL.

Ruth was born Nov. 2, 1909 in Ashland, NE a daughter of William and Nora (Hightshoe) Sullivan. She was married to Wilbert H. Seifert for 60 years and after his death married Omer Slightom and then Dr. Walter Hedrick. Ruth was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Girard, IL and a former member of the Home Extension and the Virden Women’s Club. Ruth wintered in Texas for many years.

Surviving Ruth are her daughters, Evelyn (Ron) Cain-Carney and Betty (Robert) Cox both of Virden, IL, a step-son, Dr. Keith (Vicki) Hedrick of Carlinville, IL, sisters, Helen Lynn of Dallas, TX and Lorene Nation of Litchfield, IL, 7 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Preceding Ruth in death were her husbands, Wilbert Seifert, Omer Slightom and Dr. Walter Hedrick, sister, Opal Gale, brothers, Robert, Bill, Gerald and Donald Sullivan.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Sat. March 2, 2013 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Girard, IL with funeral services at 11 a.m. at the church. Officiating will be Rev. Keith GeRue.  Organist, Cyndy Wilson.  Pallbearers:  George Rankin, Bruce Garner, Brad Cox, Harold Massey, Greg Whitlow, Aron Massey, Landon Cain and Jonathan Cain. burial in Virden Cemetery, Virden, IL. Thayer – Bruce P. Pignon, 58 of Thayer, IL passed away at 9:00 p.m. Saturday Feb. 23, 2013 at his residence.

Bruce was born March 17, 1954 in Springfield, IL a son of Desire V. and ‘lyn F. (Clark) Pignon.

Bruce graduated from Auburn High School in 1972, later attending The Electronics Institute located in Louisville, KY, graduating in 1974.  He then worked as service representative for Trumpf Inc. of Farmington, CT. He married Luzminda G. Narvaez July 1, 2005 in the Philippines.

Surviving Bruce are his wife, Luzminda of Thayer, IL, a son, Jason V. Pignon of Chatham, IL, daughters, Marie L. (Eric) Swegle of Virden, IL and Emily L. Pignon of Louisville, KY, a step-son, Stephen N. Baldomer of Virden, IL, mother, ’lyn Pignon of Auburn, IL, 1 grandchild and 1 step-grandchild, brother, Phil (Gail) Pignon of Poulsbo, WA, sister, Chelle Pignon of Thayer, IL and several nieces and nephews. Preceding Bruce in death were his father, Desire Pignon, and his brother, Mark Pignon.

Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday March 1, 2013 at Calvert & Ferry Funeral Home, Virden, IL with services at 7:00 p.m. Private family burial of ashes will be in Auburn Cemetery at a later date.  Donations may be made to Virden Rescue.  Please visit calvert-ferryfuneralhomes.com to leave a comment for the family.

Auburn –Mike P. Hoodak 95 of Auburn, IL passed away Tuesday Jan. 15, 2013 at Auburn Nursing and Rehabilitation Center Auburn, IL.

Mike was born Nov. 12, 1917 in Pawnee, IL. a son of Nicholas and Helen (Vansac) Hoodak. Mike married Wilma J. Bentley Sept. 25, 1961 in Auburn, IL. He was a member of Holy Cross Parish St. Benedict’s Church, Auburn, IL. Mike was a WW II Army veteran, a member of K of C Council 364 in Springfield, IL. and the American Legion Post # 277 in Auburn, IL. Mike was a meat cutter for 28 years for Kroger Grocery Stores and worked as an independent meat cutter for 7 years.

Mike is survived by his daughter, Barbara A. (Edward) Hoodak-Henn of Waverly, IL two grandchildren, Helen A. and Kody Henn. Preceding Mike in death was his wife, Wilma J. Hoodak, sisters, Mary K. and Helen A. Hoodak, brothers, Nicholas, Steven, Joseph and Matthew Hoodak, his niece Beverly Pratt and his nephew Joseph Hoodak II.

Visitation was from 5;00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday Jan. 17, 2013 at Calvert & Ferry Funeral Home, Auburn, IL with a 5 p.m. rosary service. Funeral mass was at 10 a.m. Friday Jan. 18, 2013 at St. Benedict’s Church, Auburn, IL. Father Chris House officiating organist was Karen Greifzu. Pallbearers were Edward, Kody, Mike and Thomas J. Henn, Gene Maley and Bill Ferry. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery, Springfield, IL. Memorials may be made to Holy Cross Parish St. Benedict’s Church, Auburn, IL.
